The Closet

The Closet provides new clothing items to Orlando students with parents unable to provide for their basic needs. While some students come to school in pajamas others have toes poking out of tattered shoes. This need for adequate clothing may be overshadowed by more urgent needs for food and health care but the result diminishes the student’s quality of life and means fewer opportunities.

Students in worn out, torn, and ill-fitting clothes find themselves at the mercy of the weather, as well as the judgement of their peers and school officials. Inadequate clothing can lead children to skip school as well as have behavioral and academic problems, putting them at a disadvantage that follows them for life.

The Closet gets brand new clothing into the hands of kids who need it to help improve student’s self-worth and help them feel as if they belong.
